We know that for a computer to run, numerous devices are needed, but do you know which components of a PC are responsible for memory and data storage? The truth is that each component has its function within the machine and, in the absence of many of them, the computer is not even able to turn on.

Therefore, to keep you informed and quench your curiosity, in today's post we will discuss the main parts of a PC, responsible for its performance. Check it out below!

1.  motherboard or motherboard

The motherboard is one of the most important parts of a computer. After all, it's where we connect all the other components of a PC.

In this way, the motherboard is responsible for managing all the data that is transmitted by the devices of hardware connected. Therefore, we say that the computer has a critical problem when the problem concerns the motherboard. It is worth mentioning that there are several motherboard models and manufacturers and each board has its specificities.

2.  Processor or CPU

The single processing center, or CPU, refers to the hardware component responsible for all logical and arithmetic processing made inside the machine. In this sense, when we download and open a program on our computer, the processor is responsible for the results that are generated on the monitor.

3. RAM memory

One of the components of a PC that cannot be missing is the RAM memory. You've probably heard someone say, "this computer is low on space".

This is due to the fact that without main memory the computer runs out of storage space. After all, it is in RAM memory that the computer searches for data when performing actions, such as opening a file or some installed program.

In other words, a PC's processor will never fetch files directly from the hard drive. Therefore, RAM memory works as a kind of mediation between the CPU and the HD.

It's important make sure that main memory is faster than hard drive. Therefore, it is responsible for 'scouring' the hard drive for information and sending it to the processor. In addition, there are other memories that help in the execution of programs, they are:

  • Secondary memory;
  • registers;
  • cache;
  • ROM memory.

4.HD

In simple terms, HD consists of mass storage memory. That way, all operating system files are on it. Here, the HD differs from RAM memory which, as soon as the computer is turned off, loses all data.

So, on the hard drive, stored data is permanent, as long as there is no component formatting. Although it is important, a computer can work without an HD, but in this case, you will need another storage medium, such as an SSD, a CD or even a pen drive.

5. SSD

There is even a PC component that replaces the presence of an HD very well. The SSD concerns a piece of storage seen by many as the evolution of the hard drive.

In addition to not having mobile partitions, the SSD consists of a semiconductor, being responsible for data storage. Incidentally, the technology is so bold, as it is faster than the hard disk, since the memory is flash, similar to a pen drive.

In other words, HD ends up being slower because its response time, or rather, its disc reading time, is greater. Even the internal part of the HD is very similar to a record player. Thus, your arm needs to go through the entire disk to be able to read it.

6. Video card

The video card, on the other hand, refers to the component responsible for displaying the results of tasks performed on the PC screen.

In general, they can be classified into two groups, plaques onboard e offline. The signs onboard, by default, are soldered onto the motherboard. already the offline, are the expansion boards, which we buy outside and install them.

The signs offline are better, since they have their own memory and processing, independent of the CPU and RAM of the PC. This makes graphics rendering for games better.

7. Power supply

The power supply consists of the component responsible for supplying energy, transforming alternating current into direct current. Such can be: -5, 5, 12 and 12V.

Thus, the power supply needs to be able to supply power to all devices in the PC so that they are able to perform their functions. In addition, the component also supplies power to the PC's fans, which are important for its ventilation.

8. Network card

In the days of hyperconnection, the network card is certainly an indispensable part of the computer. By default, the motherboard comes with the 'Ethernet' connection. But, in notebooks, we have wired network cards and wireless network cards.

The sign wireless allows access to the local network and other networks without the need for connection cables. This allows increased PC portability, which does not need to be fixed in the place where the modem is installed.
